Automotive Systems
The Automotive Systems division has 36 factories, research centers and test tracks in 17 countries. Continental Teves develops and produces electronic and hydraulic brake, stability and chassis control systems as well as electronic air suspension systems and sensors. Continental Temic is a specialist for chassis electronics, engine management and transmission control units, as well as electric drives and body electronics.
The Safety Supplier
The division comprises the Electronic Brake and Safety Systems, Telematics, Hydraulic Brake Systems, Foundation Brakes, Chassis & Powertrain, Electric Drives, Body & Security and Aftermarket business units. A fine example of interconnecting and systems integration is the APIA project (Active Passive Integration Approach), in which active and passive driving safety are unified in one overall project. The aim is the "accident and injury avoiding car", a visionary idea, yet much more than a vision: We have already demonstrated to our customers a test vehicle with functioning APIA on the basis of production-ready subsystems - with a very positive response. So we are moving closer to the day when this revolutionary technology for maximum safety is available commercially.
Safety, comfort, the environment and quality are integral parts of our corporate philosophy and play a key role for every product and service from the initial concept until they are made available to customers.
Safety
Our achievements in the field of brakes and safety systems are only possible thanks to the considerable experience of our engineers and a comprehensive program of driving safety technologies including powerful foundation brakes, high-performance electronic brake systems and ESC (Electronic Stability Control) with sensor technology. In addition, there are occupant protection systems such as air bag control units, precrash sensor systems and various control electronic units and software products.
Comfort
Environment
Our products make a major contribution to cars being more fuel-efficient and environmentally compatible. Thanks to brake-energy recovery, hybrid systems lower both consumption and CO2 output by up to 25%. Our intelligent control units ensure smooth and fuel-saving automatic transmissions. Furthermore, effective environmental protection is a key factor in our planning of the entire life cycle of our products: Nonpolluting materials, resource-preserving production, long-lived products and recyclable assemblies.
Quality
We supply products of a premium quality - without compromise throughout the world. For us, quality is a daily challenge. Quality is our core competence and has top priority.
