To read the feed you need an RSS reader. The RSS version we use is 2.0.

What is RSS?

With RSS you are automatically informed about new articles by the Global Engineering Excellence initiative (or other content providers). We provide an overview about our articles in a special XML file, which is updated regularly. You can subscribe to this file and read it with special software called RSS reader. RSS reader can be configured, allowing you to define which sources you want to read, and how often these sources should be checked for new articles. The reader then reads the news feeds you have subscribed to and notifies you about new articles, usually by showing a headline and a teaser. If you are interested in an article, you just have to click on it.

How do I get an RSS reader?

There are many different RSS readers available on the Internet, a lot of them are free. Entering RSS as a search string at www.versiontracker.com will give you a list with available readers. Below, you can find some examples. Continental is not responsible for the content of the listed and linked Internet pages. The download and installation of these readers is at your own risk, and Continental is not liable for any problems and damages caused by installation or usage of these readers.

  • RSS Owl, for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. It is Java-based, freeware, and available in different languages. Easy installation and usage.
  • klipfolio, for Windows. Widely spread, klipfolio is a powerful desktop application, which you can download at www.klipfarm.com. Here the RSS news feeds are loaded into special klip files.
  • Amphetadesk, for Linux, Mac and Windows: Browser-based solution for displaying news feeds which is easy to use. Amphetadesk loads selected news feeds in the background (system tray), and displays headlines and teasers on demand in a local Web browser page.

  • Safari, for MacOS X: The Apple browser is able to handle Web pages and RSS feeds. When Safari encounters a RSS feed, it displays every headline and article summary right in the browser window. To read the complete article, click on the headline or summary to retrieve the Web page. Safari has a slider control for customizing the displayed length of each article summary and controls for sorting and filtering displayed articles by date, title and source.
  • Mozilla Firefox, for Windows and Mac OS X. RSS news items are linked as so-called live bookmarks and can be displayed in the sidebar or the bookmark symbol bar.
